Kalisha Brown founded Breaking Cycles Counseling with the mission to provide mental health support for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and interpersonal or relationship issues. She recognized a significant gap in mental health services for low- to moderate-income individuals, as well as the need to address cultural biases within therapy. Driven by a passion to offer accessible, culturally competent care, Kalisha created a group practice where individuals could receive the mental health support they needed without financial barriers. Breaking Cycles Counseling focuses on empowering clients to break free from harmful patterns, fostering emotional well-being, and improving relationships in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Darren received his Masters Degree in Multicultural Community Counseling and Social Justice Education at San Diego State University and his Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling and Social Change, which has provided him with the background to effectively serve varying cultures, sexualities, creeds, socioeconomic status, and backgrounds. His goal is to provide a person centered approach to empower the client to recognize their own strengths and use their own autonomy to enact their change process, while also helping the client increase awareness of the various social and cultural factors that influence their view of the world around them. Darren also uses evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy , Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to equip individuals with tools to aid in change. He is passionate about serving clients that come from marginalized and underrepresented communities of color, as well as LGBTQIA+ population.

Anika Ahsan is a Doctoral Candidate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She is deeply committed to building trusting, collaborative relationships with her clients. Anika brings a wide range of clinical experience supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder, as well as individuals facing acute and chronic mental health challenges in inpatient settings. Anika’s clinical interests include anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She is especially passionate about supporting clients navigating issues of identity, acculturation, intergenerational trauma, and systemic marginalization. Her approach integrates an understanding of the intersections between culture, religion, spirituality, and mental health particularly within underrepresented communities. Jamie has extensive experience supporting individuals and families impacted by mental health disorders and substance use challenges. Dedicated to evidence-based, trauma-informed practice, she emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and continuity of care. Jamie believes that every client should have a voice in their treatment and works collaboratively to develop personalized, holistic plans that promote healing, resilience, and empowerment.
